American Idol has announced who will be returning for the next season and Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest are all coming back.
It will be the 21st season of the singing competition – Seacrest has hosted every season, whereas it will be the sixth year for the judges, who all joined when the show moved from Fox to ABC.
Auditions kick off next month ahead of the show airing in spring 2023.
Earlier this year, the show crowned its 20th winner, with Noah Thompson beating HunterGirl in the final.
Following his win, Noah took to Instagram to thank all his fans for voting for him to win the show.
“Had a hard time making this post because I truly couldn’t find the words to say. I was in complete shock at this moment and I still am and I probably always will be!” Thompson wrote.
“Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, thank you for everyone who voted, thank you guys so much for everything!! I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you all so thank you guys so so much. I’ m looking forward to continuing this journey and seeing where this thing goes. Love all of you.”

Last year, American Idol experienced some controversy when a resurfaced video of contestant Caleb Kennedy also featured someone with what looked like a Ku Klux Klan hood on.
The singer announced his exit from the music competition as a result, after making it into the Top 5 with the following statement: “Hey y’all, this is gonna be a bit of a surprise. There was a video that surfaced on the internet and it displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way.
“I was younger and didn’t think about the actions, but that’s not an excuse. I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone I have let down.”
